For a month I've had to lighten up on dieting and stop exercising because I did one of two things, pulled a muscle in my stomach or had developed a hernia. The doctor was leaning toward the pulled muscle but couldn't rule out the hernia and so I was ordered to "rest" for a month. If all seemed to go back to normal (which it has) I could resume.
No, exercising did not cause my injury, a stomach virus did. A very violent one! But if you want to read someone who truly inspires me check out Michelle!

Turning the Corner--not cutting it!
So, with the flush of early weightloss comes the inevitable temptation to cheat on the diet and skimp on exercise. And trust me, the temptation is there! But today I stuck with it and exercised 1 hour and ten minutes. I am enjoying using yoga as my cool down. Of course, my favorite pose, the palm tree, is also my most difficult so far. Baby steps, it's not just for psychosis anymore!

Weight Update
I've lost seven pounds! I can't believe it fell off in less than a week. Weight Watchers is giving me 1 extra point a day and I am up to 1 hour of exercise. I am thrilled to start this journey toward being healthier. Already healthier food is coming into our house and being enjoyed by all. Tonight I watched as a ravenous two-year-old ripped into a banana first at dinner! I am hoping Jeff will be recovered enough (he pulled a hamstring) to start on the Wii Fit this week. I think healthy competition will be good for both of us although I'm sure weight will fall off of him much more easily than it does me.

A Minor Setback?
I did great with my points today. I was full and well under. But exercise got the better of me. I started strong but then began feeling nauseous, something I've never experienced before. I had plenty of fluids beforehand so I know I wasn't dehydrated. After only about ten minutes I had to stop. I got some work in, so I don't think it's a total loss, but that's about a quarter of what I normally accomplish, so not a success either! I have always read that if you start to feel faint or sick while exercising to stop, so I did, but I feel guilty.
To top all that off, I have been bloated which does not help when you are on a diet. I know the bloating is hormonally related and will be gone in about a week, but it still bums me out. I am trying to stay positive though and remember how well I did food-wise today.

In Which I Begin this Healthy Lifestyle
So, today, I joined Weight Watchers Online. The greatest part of the adventure begins, helping myself learn to eat healthy. I have been working out on the Wii Fit Plus for about a week. I have more energy and am sleeping better already.
I decided 2010, a year I don't start pregnant, will be a year of getting fit and healthy. It's not a resolution, it's a lifestyle change. My attitude on it seems to be a bit catching at least to a few around me. I am hoping to incorporate more healthful food into the entire family's menu. With Shelby that will be a bit more challenging in the introduction of new foods, but we'll go it slow.
